Welcome!

The egg. It has been there for you through thick and thin, through lean days and holidays, sometimes the last thing left in the fridge to have with your rice. You can always count on an egg. And you can count on its quality and freshness if it is from one of our local farms.

For more than a century, Hawaii has relied on the families that have dedicated generations to keeping fresh eggs on local plates. This website is dedicated to these egg farms, the last remaining four in the state, all of them family owned and operated.

We hope this will be a place for all of us to reconnect through our love of fresh local eggs and the tradition of community-based family farms. We have gathered a lot of information here about what distinguishes local eggs from those shipped in from elsewhere, the heritage of our family farms, and nutritional value.

Check back often for new recipes and egg stories or tips by everyone - from old-timers to celebrities to Hawaii's top chefs!

Mahalo for your support and love of eggs!

Honolulu Advertiser: Wanda Adams article

Honoulu Advertiser published a great article by Wanda Adams about Hawaii's egg farms in Wednesday, July 9th's issue. Roy and Carol Kaneshiro of KK Poultry Farm hosted Minda from Maili Moa, Sharon from Peterson Upland Farm, Phyllis from Mikilua, Lisa from Asagi Hatchery, and Wanda Adams to sit down and talk about what is going on with eggs in Hawaii and what it will take to insure Hawaii's ability to continue to supply eggs for its own communities.

Mahalo to Wanda and the Honolulu Advertiser for helping us to share our concerns with you, our community. Mahalo also to all of you who are responding with emails and phone calls and visits to the farms and stores for your eggs. Every one of your comments, letters of concern and care count.

Your response has been remarkable, we are truly grateful for your support!

May 24th KCC Farmers' Market Fun

Mahalo to everyone that stopped by our booth at the KCC Farmers' Market this past Saturday! It was a big success and we sold out of the large and x-large dozens in the first hour. Good thing we brought a lot of jumbos! Lots of you came by to lend your support and share stories, we really appreciate it.

A main goal of our coming to the market was to spread the word about what is going on with the egg farms.

We are determined to not only keep going but to be a part of reversing the tide of disappearance here in the islands — of all things fresh and local.

By banding together, and with your support, we feel that we have a chance.

We won't be at the KCC Farmers' Market on Saturday, June 7th. There's been a change in the schedule. Please check back soon, we will keep you posted! Mahalo!

American Heart Month:
Cracking Open Heart Health Myths

30 Years of Research Shows No Link
Between Eggs and Heart Disease

February is American Heart Month, and while cardiovascular disease continues to be the number one killer of Americans, many adults are confused about what foods to eat and what to avoid. A January survey of healthy adults conducted by the Egg Nutrition Center shows that nearly one out of four (24 percent) Americans still avoid eggs for fear of dietary cholesterol, even though 30 years of research has never linked egg consumption to heart disease.i As a result of this myth, many Americans are missing out on the beneficial nutrients of the incredible egg.
